Although Virat Kohli was the Player of the match, as the one to bolster India's score to a challenge for Australia, Kuldeep Yadav created a history in ODI records of India. He became the third Indian bowler to nick a hattrick in the format. It was the 33rd over when Australia's batting lineup reach a total meltdown losing three wickets at three consecutive deliveries. The conjuror was wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav who removed Mathew Wade, Ashton Agar, and PJ Cummins slogging Australia's chase to 148 for 8 wickets. In fact, India won the match at this very three balls off the player.
In the after-match interview, Yadav acknowledged that the breakthrough was not that easy. He was struggling his positioning. It was in this moment he asked MS Dhoni for an advice. He asked the former captain where he should bowl. In reply, the former captain suggested to deliver in the way he wants adding nothing special to it. Yadav said, it changed the game plan for the team and it was a "special" and a "proud moment" for him to nick the hattrick. He then had the confidence to bowl without any hesitation brining the three wickets as the crux of India's win. In the first seven overs he bowled, the bowler gave out 39 runs. Yadav, reaching a special feat said, he is not a "mystery bowler" terming "quality bowling" as the "biggest mystery."
While, the middle overs were taken care by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Skipper Virat Kohli thinks, the player's hold in the inning was crucial. He bowled "unplayable" deliveries which got the breakthrough. The captain said, the quality of players in the team is showing how it is "shaping up" for better. On the other side, Australia captain Steve Smith said the players made "poor decisions under pressure". Per Smith failure to build partnerships in the top lineup was the reason for the total derailment of the chase.
