It is the end of third day of ongoing Irani Cup match between Vidarbha and Rest of India team. After electing to bat, team Vidarbha is still firm on its first inning stretch batting for three days continuously. The team has played 208 overs so far, with declaring, while the score already hauled to 702.
At the end of the first day, the score was 289, while the ROI team could only nick two wickets bowling 90 overs. At the end of the second day, Vidarbha reached 598 runs. In the day, only a single wicket fell. In the following day, ROI bowlers could take away another two wickets as Vidarbha reached 702 runs for 5 wickets.
So far, there has been a couple of obvious high scores in the inning. However, Wasim Jaffer knocked a brilliant double century remaining less than 20 runs to a triple ton. Batting third down the line, Jaffer played 431 balls to score 286 runs. He knocked 35 boundaries, including a six. The player was down in the third day as Vidarbha’s score soared to 600. It was in the 183rd over, when Siddharth Kaul bowled him. Kaul had another wicket of Ganesh Satish on the previous day. The latter to knocked another century of the inning scoring 120 runs. He smashed 10 fours and two sixes.
The opening partnership of the inning was of 34 overs, where Faiz Faizal and RR Sanjay forged 101 runs. Sanjay scored 53 runs completing a half-century before being removed by Yadav. Fazal played until the 68th over scoring 89 runs off 190 balls. His wicket was nicked by Ashwin.
By the end of third day, AV Wankhede and AA Sarwate went off as overnight batsmen. Wankhede was batting at 99 runs. Vidarbha could declare on the fourth day after the batsman completes his century. In three days, ROI bowlers Ashwin, S Nadeem and Jayant Yadav finished with a single wicket each while Siddharth Kaul had two wickets.
