Team India is under a clear threat. After losing the first two matches of the series, all the visiting team have now left is to save itself from a whitewash. This squad has been the best in the format so far, but the permutation of players backfires sometime, as it did this time. Still, losing the series by 3-0 will be not an option for captain Virat Kohli after a long victory stretch of unbeaten campaigns.
Furthermore, since season 1992-93, no visiting India test team faced a series whitewashed in South Africa. Another great reason why India should not lose this match is the fact that Wanderers has been the ground where the team won its first Test in the African continent. It is the place where India did not lose a Test so far, in its four past campaigns.
On the other side, a jubilant South Africa team does not seem contended at only winning the series. The team might be craving for the reply of its own drubbing couple of years back while visiting India. That series defeat by 3-0 is quite a memory for the present players of the Proteas. Now, as several top players in the team is seeing the current series as their final tussle against India, marking a complete victory has become a necessity.
Therefore, there is no chance for India to expect any leeway from the host even in this dead rubber. For India, however, losing is not an option because it would mean any team is a boss at home in the longest format. And, it is a sad thing to let it happen. South Africa winning the match would also mean their raking refreshed to the top of current ICC Charts, which India dominates now.
The green pitch of Wanderers is brining a similar color of hope for India as it can turn up favorable for both its seam bowlers and batsmen. In the series India batsmen could not have a delightful game until now. It was only captain Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya who had some good innings. The squad would come up with certain changes this time and some changes in their play is also expected. India skipper wants Kohli “to correct all the mistake that have happened” so far.
