The Tamil Nadu selection committee recently selected a couple of players as potential spinners. M Abhinav, S Kishan Kumar and M Ashwin are on selector’s radar. It is a part of the long plan of the management to groom wrist spinners in the team. Per S Sharath, Chairman of selectors, performance of wrist spinners in the team has been below par. He said, the spinners are not able to get wickets and deliver consistently. The chairman thinks it is the time to groom spinners as with a long-term plan. On the selected players, he said, they will be monitored constantly, adding, the bowlers will be considered at “appropriate times.”

M Ashwin has played two seasons of IPL alongside Rising Pune Supergiants and Delhi Daredevils. His recent performance in Vijay Hazare and Deodhar Trophy was impressive. M Abhinav and S Kishan Kumar are Under 19 players of team Tamil Nadu. These three players are being discussed as a part of the current emphasis to yoke leg spinners. The coach of team Tamil Nadu is excited to have wrist spinners in his team. He additionally emphasized that only spinners should not be the ‘criteria.’ He said, any team would like to have wrist spinners, but it does not mean that if anybody bowls wrist spin, he should make it to the team.
