Former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond believes that New Zealand will win the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The all important final is just two days away now and both the teams have been preparing hard to beat each other. The world will witness the first Test champions when India will clash with New Zealand on June 18 in Southampton.
Shane Bond backed his own country players to emerge as the winners in the historic WTC Final. The 46-year-old feels that New Zealand will field five fast bowlers, which will set them apart from India, who will play two spinners and three fast bowlers.
“I think New Zealand are going to win. Game practices going to have a massive impact. I think India have got a balanced bowling attack. I think they will play three seamers and two spinners. I think New Zealand will play five seamers, and I think they will win the toss and they will bowl first,” Bond said as quoted by Rediff.com.
Along with that, he also opined about the important toss and how it will play a deciding factor in the final. Bond feels that if New Zealand will bowl first, they will bundle India out for some cheap runs. “If New Zealand win the toss and bowl as well as they have. I think they will bowl out India cheaply. So, it’s the toss that is going to be huge,” he pointed out,” he said.
Both the teams have now announced a 15-member squad for the WTC Final. Here are both the squads:
New Zealand Squad: Kane Williamson (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling (wk), Will Young
