The 2015 World Cup held in Australia & New Zealand was marked with sensational moments and exciting contests. New Zealand made it to the Final for the very first time following a dramatic Semi-final against South Africa. Kiwis players and fans were overwhelmed to a greater extent, ABD fans were numbed, shocked and heartbroken. Those teary eyes of Morne Morkel and AB Devilliers are anchored in the minds of cricket enthusiastic for good.
The tournament was accentuated with another unconventional moment that took place in the Third Quater-Final match played between Australia and Pakistan in Adelaide that stunned the fraternity. Pakistan managed to put 213 and reduced the kangaroos to 59/3 after Wahab Riaz dazzled Michael Clarke with an acute bouncer. Watson came to bat and what happened thereafter was remarkably electrifying.
The figures would say otherwise, but Wahab Riaz thoroughly unsettled Shane Watson that day with his pace prowess. Wahab Riaz's ferocious spell and on top of that, the unconventional sledding at Shane Waston widely got it labeled the "spell from hell." Wahab was ostensibly cheering his teammates after every delivery subtly taunting Shane Watson. The Bouncer Sensation almost got the reward for his zeal when he made Watson play a pull shot but Rahat Ali dropped a dolly at fine leg leaving Wahab Riaz in total distress.
“Wahab Riaz went absolutely crazy, bouncing the living daylights out of me, he bowled super accurate and he kept bouncing me,” Watson said about the match. Shane Watson remained unbeaten on 64 and guided the team to a comfortable win over Pakistan.
"Best spell of bowling by a foreigner on Aussie soil for years", Kevin Pietersen tweeted on March 20, 2015.
