During a chat with Sunrisers Hyderabad's official handle, Moody spoke about the new season and stressed on their latest buy from IPL 2021 Auction – Mujeeb ur Rahman. The Director of cricket revealed the reason why they picked Mujeeb in the auction.
Mujeeb was a part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2020 and he spent most of his time on the bench. However, this year will be the same for him as Sunrisers Hyderabad have too many foreign players in the team and even the place of Mohammed Nabi, who has been with the franchise for a long time, is not fixed in the playing XI.
Rashid Khan will start as the favorite in the overseas bowler's spot and Mujeeb will have to warm the bench again this season.
“From the overseas perspective, having Mujeeb there. He is obviously a very very effective T20 bowler and he has shown that throughout his franchise career and obviously while playing for Afghanistan. I think he gives us greater depth and certainly, he is going to keep everyone on their toes to you know try and keep their spot in the eleven,” Moody revealed in a video released by Sunrisers Hyderabad's official handle on social media.
“We obviously didn’t have to do a lot during the auction. But what we did do I thought was pretty smart. Buying we brought a lot of experience,” he added.
