Former England captain Michael Vaughan is always in the news for his controversial comments and now he has reacted on Virat Kohli’s idea to conduct a best-of-three final to decide the World Test Champion. Yesterday, India suffered a humiliating loss against New Zealand after they were thoroughly outplayed on the final day of the Test match.
Reflecting on this loss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said that the ICC should look to conduct a best-of-three final series to decide the World Test Champion. This year, which was the inaugural one, the Final was a one-off Test and both the teams had equal go against each other. The final was a thrilling one as it went down the wire and New Zealand emerged victorious in the final hour of play on the reserve day.
“I am not in absolute agreement of deciding the best Test side in the world over the course of one game. If it is a Test series, it has to be a test of character over three Tests – which team has the ability to come back in the series or totally blow away the other team,” Virat Kohli said while speaking in the post-match press conference.
Michael Vaughan reacts, says Final is one-off only
After hearing Kohli’s statement, Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to share his opinion. He said that there’s absolutely no room for a three-Test final in the year.
“Where in the schedule would it fit in ?? Are the IPL going to reduce the year of the final tournament by 2 weeks so it could fit in ? Doubt it ..: Finals are one off games where teams/individuals know they have to deliver … that’s what makes them so great,” he tweeted.
