Former Indian champion all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has thrown his support behind Team India to win the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final against New Zealand, starting tomorrow in Southampton. Virat Kohli led India will be up against Kane Williamson led New Zealand in the one-off final to decide the World’s first-ever Test champions.
India’s journey has been a see-saw type one, from losing the two Tests in New Zealand to winning the toughest series in Australia. New Zealand, on the other hand, have entered the final comfortably, on the back of home Test wins and despite losing the away series in Australia 0-3.
Yuvraj Singh feels that India can beat the Kiwis in the all important final. Speaking on the channel Aaj Tak, Yuvraj said that India have a belief they can win anywhere and that’s what sets them apart from the New Zealand team. He also mentioned the fact that India won twice in Australia in the four-match Test series and have been performing brilliantly overseas.
“I think it’s a very good idea to take Test cricket to the next level, I feel India is very strong because India has performed brilliantly on overseas tours, won twice in Australia. I think India have a belief that they can win anywhere, but the conditions in England are different, I am sure India should beat New Zealand,” Yuvraj Singh told Aaj Tak.
Here are the squads of both the teams:
