South Africa ready to mark “Vision 2019” with ODI against India
Aiden Markram will replace AB de Villiers in the first ODI against India.

India would start their next campaign of South Africa tour at Durban. India’s ODI history in the sub-continent has been quite marginal so far with only five victories among a total of 28 matches. In Durban, India is yet to mark an ODI win. Throughout the latest tour, India seem to acclimatize slowly to South Africa condition, getting better after each match. In the Test series, India lost the first two matches, but the way it thumped South Africa in Johannesburg proved that South Africa cannot be the one to win every time even if playing at home.

Still, South Africa is the top ODI team in ICC Chart. Clearly, the team is the best and it has already replaced India in the longest format’s list after the recent drubbing. In the campaign, South Africa has no such comment until now to pose their strength in the format, but by terming the six-match series as a breakthrough to “Vision 2019”, the team marked its seriousness to win. Meanwhile, India will look forward to fine its ensemble and get an overturn in the tournament. Kohli must be desperate for a victory by now.

In the Durban ODI, the first leg of the series, South Africa is playing without Kane Williamson. However, no such major disruption in the team’s holistic form is expected due to his absence. The player has been marginal in his form in the recent test series with only 71 runs. Also, in ODI, his latest knock of an unbeaten 168 was before almost six months in October against Bangladesh. South Africa is brining Aiden Markram to replace de Villiers. Skipper Faf du Plessis said, Markram will be given an opportunity to bat at different places in the batting order. Per the captain the opportunity will be a ‘nice learning curve’ for the batsman.

India is brining back Rohit Sharma for his impressive records in the format and with the white ball. For former captain MS Dhoni, the series could bring up another milestone as he will reach 10,000 ODI runs after 102 runs. Ajinkya Rahane will be playing at 4th position down the line. Kedar Jadhav will be placed in the middle order along with all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
