South Africa plays to resist India from claiming series
David Miller played with rejuvenated form to induce new hopes for South Africa.

Until half the series South Africa had nothing out of India losing consecutive matches. The form with which India was playing seemed such that the series could have ended as a whitewash. However, the fourth ODI at Wanderers did pave the way of hope for the home team. South Africa slogged India in the Pink ball game, which has been an unbeaten record of the team.

Wrist-spin attacks of India went all haywire as Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal remained docile against South Africa batsmen. Also, India’s player failed in the match to put up a challenging target. The team scored 201 runs, which South Africa chased down in 28 overs.

Ahead of the fifth Test, South Africa must prepare in a way, so that, it can keep up the Pink ball magic. Also, debutant Heinrich Klaasen was successful to prove his worth to selectors. Another emphasis was from David Miller, who was dormant in the first three matches. South Africa’s campaign in the series, at this stage, have become interesting. Even if the team lost its chance to win, it can still keep away India from claiming the series by winning the rest of the matches.

On the other hand, India’s batting line-up exposed its vulnerabilities upside down in the previous match. Also, in earlier matches, only a couple of players played worthwhile spearheaded by captain Virat Kohli. If the strike was not from Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan or from Ajinkya Rahane, the whole line-up appeared as almost futile. The same happened in the fourth ODI, as India’s lost its chance to whitewash the series. India must work seriously in the middle order. MS Dhoni is still waiting to pouch his 46 runs to reach the 10,000 ODI runs milestone.

Record shows that the St. George’s Park is slow and it is posed amicable for India, in the same way Wanderers was considered positive for South Africa. Per bowler Andile Phehlukwayo, his side is doing “good analysis and have good game plans” against India.
