South Africa let go Quinton de Kock over wrist injury
Quinton de Kock is dropped from the tournament as well as the T20 series following the series.

South Africa’s ODI campaign is turning up as a haywire over injury issues. Staring from AB de Villiers’ drop from the team, ahead of the series, the enigma continued to captain Faf du Plessis and now lately, to Quinton de Kock. Du Plessis was injured in the first ODI, which rested him from the second campaign. Being through strong form, the captain’s absence was apparent in the way South Africa lost the second match to India.

In the match, de Kock injured his wrist and per medics, he would need at least two to four weeks to recover completely. The injury has ruled out the player from the current series as well as the following T20 campaign. The opener batsman will start playing again in the Test series against Australia, which is scheduled from March 1.

Mohammed Moosajee, team manager of South Africa explaining about the player’s injury, said, the latter “suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist”. Moosajee also informed that the batsman is now feeling “severe pain and discomfort.” The comment came earlier on Monday, after de Kock was diagnosed. It was also reported that the tendon area in the wrist has swollen and there was a severe bony bruising in the area. The team manager informed, Cricket South Africa medical team are trying to make him ready for the next tournament against Australia.

The injury struck team is running out of options to replace their players in the series. Quinton de Kock’s injury have made the way for Heinrich Klaasen to debut in the next ODI. The match is scheduled in Cape Town. 26 years old Klaasen is among the top first-class cricketers of the country. He averaged 46.47 in 60 matches in the format as a wicket-keeper batsman. While in 42 List A matches, his aggregate score is 1167. His inclusion might be also a game-changer for South Africa as de Kock has been through a low form in the series as well as the Test tournament ahead of it.
