Smith confident against India after Bangladesh tour
Steven Smith said the ODI team is pretty well in playing spin in the subcontinent.

Australia's campaign against India is scheduled as the next leg of its long overseas tour. The recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh came up as a good experience for the team to acclimatize to Asian condition, which has long been a bane for the squad. Especially in spin, Australia still seem to gain an edge in the subcontinent. However, captain Steven Smith is taking the format as an advantage against India, which is now through a strong form. India's has not lost a Test since a year, but in ODI, the team is not that formidable. Thus, Smith has good reasons to be confident.

Challenging India at home might be tough, but Australia is a team considered as a specialist in ODI. In current times, there has been some glitches, apparent from their Champions Trophy campaign, but a rejuvenation is expected. The forthcoming campaign will be also a mark of its revival if it can topple India in at least a series. Smith said in the arrival press conference in Chennai that the ODI team has played spin "pretty well", it is only the Test team that is "still learning". He acknowledged that the team have come from a "challenging tour". In the series in the latest Bangladesh tour was leveled at 1-1.

India recently won the ODI series against Sri Lanka by 5-0. Captain Virat Kohli is well versed now in the formation of the team, which is strong throughout the batting line up to at least the 7th batsman. While, in bowling Jasprit Bumrah, Javindra Jadeja and Pandya has good record against Australia. On the other side Australia's strongest bet in the Bangladesh tour, Nathan Lyon, is absent in the ODI team. Instead of him, Australia's finest in bowling in the series is Adam Zampa, the quick option. But, Zampa's record is not that impressive against India. Smith also has Glenn Maxwell and Ashton Agar as spin options.
