Smith concentrating on winning Champions Trophy amidst pay disputes
Smith is positive on Cricket Australia to settle pay disputes.

The pay dispute between Cricketers and the cricket board of Australia transformed as an open and public fray. With an impasse from both the fronts, the team set off its campaign in Champions Trophy. Skipper Steven Smith pressed for a strong campaign in the tournament as a bait for player. Earlier, the captain said if Australia can win the trophy, Cricket Australia would have a strong reason to bend over player’s demand. However, several players were univocal with the Cricketers Association.

In a recent interview, Aussie Captain Steven Smith said the team is focusing on the tournament. He did not negate the impact of the dispute. Per the captain “obviously there are somethings going on in the background.” But the captain is focusing on the tournament as he should. Smith mulled over the importance of Champions Trophy as it “only comes around every four years.” The tournament is big and he wants to win it. He said, while Australia Cricketers’ Association handles “everything else,” his focus is on winning the tournament.

The impasse in the discussion and the situation is clear to players. They are being communicated by the Association in a routine manner. Smith did not abandon his hopes on Cricket Australia and he is sure of an agreement. Currently Australian crickets give back USD 10 million to grassroot cricket. Smith is expecting the new rule aligned to the old ones.

Australia won the trophy twice in earlier occasions. Smith is hopeful on his team’s instance over white ball cricket. He said not over hitting the ball can bring good outcomes. The team is working on tips to change their mindset from T20s to ODI games. Australia and New Zealand tussled last in Chappell-Hadlee tournament. Smith is aware of New Zealand and the condition in England. He expects to put on some pressure on the team.
