Royals seeking a change of fate being back on IPL 2018 Schedule
Rajasthan Royals lost Smith, leaving Ajinkya Rahane at the helm of the team.

Rajasthan Royals returned to IPL after two seasons. It was corruption charges that banned the Royals from the tournament back in 2015. The team does not seem to recover from the jinx yet. With good hope, they roped in Steven Smith as the captain investing sizeable amount on the player. But the Australia captain is now suspended from international cricket for a year, getting ousted from IPL automatically. Rajasthan Royals’ plan to crush on IPL 2018 Schedule with a bang is now definitely out of phase. Against this clumsy backdrop, Ajinkya Rahane stepped in to take helm of the team.

Rahane and Smith were both with Rising Pune Supergiant, hauling the team to be the runners up. The former has been quite successful, but it would be his maiden season as an IPL T20 series captain. Rahane’s presence in the team is a substantial advantage. Apart from the striker, Royals also roped in Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat. These two players along with Jofra Archer are the biggest buys of the season. Still, the team might have to stretch a bit. Ben Stokes is beginning to complain backpain and Archer suffered a side strain in Pakistan Super League.

This puts players like Jos Buttler, Heinrich Klassen and D’ Archy Short on focus. The players had impressive performances in their previous campaigns. Buttler and Short had a strong BBL season, while Klassen proved his skills in Indian condition lately back in January. The domestic bets in Rajasthan Royals has strong formation with the likes of Sanju Samson and Rahul Tripathi. With this ensemble, the Royals still seem to have a strong squad to reinforce Smith’s drop off from the team.

Rajasthan Royals might have an average bowling attack this tournament. Spin options are stronger in the team while pace options are being outpaced in the current setup. Archer and Ben Stokes put on marginal lines, it is the second line of attack the team would have to depend on. Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni and Anureet Singh would be brought to prominent positions.
