Royal Challengers Bangalore trying hard to pace up at Wankhede
Disarrayed Kohli and Mandeep Singh, in the fixture against Royal Pune Supergiant.

It is only Royal Challengers Bangalore that has gotten Mumbai Indians on control this season. But Bangalore is among the bottom teams in the chart while Mumbai Indian is among the top squads. Bangalore has faced defeats from every team, but Mumbai Indians. While Mumbai Indians has defeated each team better than Mumbai. They also have toppled Bangalore at a previous fixture. Mumbai has been finding its way out to the top by one or another way. The players are not consistent, but in any match, at-least one player has been coming up as a match winner. In the last fixture against Bangalore, they put up a target of 143 batting first. While bowling, they capped the top order reducing the team to five wickets for 33.

In a match before a couple of seasons, RCB batsmen AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli hammered an unbeaten score of 215 against Mumbai Indians. But it was back in 2015, an old record. This season, the woes of RCB seems to know no bounds. At Wankhede stadium Bangalore and Mumbai have played six matches so far and the equation is at 3-3. In overall, MI has won 12 matches and RCB has won 8 matches in of 20 matches IPL matches so far.

In 2016, Mumbai Indians won both the matches. The current match being the sixth home fixture for Mumbai of the season, the team has come up with its strongest batsmen. The team has no lack of confidence as it successfully chased down two 170 plus score this season so far. Chasing has been the most favorable strategy for Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Bangalore is still struggling with the choice of batsmen. They have the bests, but somehow, they are just playing worsts as a team. None of the players including the captain Virat Kohli, Gayle or de Villiers has not played consistently. Other players like Mandeep Singh, Sachin Baby, and Stuart Binny have been equally disappointing. Virat Kohli, well known for his upright stances while facing defeats, however, did not disappoint, at -least his fans. In his words, “it’s hard for a captain to stand here and talk when the team is performing like this…” He said the “team is trying hard, but it’s the lack of intent.”
