India won its latest ODI campaign against Australia by a strong margin of 4-1 in the five-match series. The only blue for India in the series is the denial of the 10 ODI victory at a stretch in the format. Had India won the fourth ODI, it could be with the teams that has won 10 back to back ODI victories at least once. The only teams without the feat are India, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe. Still, team India has many reasons to rejoice after the series win. It reclaimed the top rank in ICC Chart. India is now ahead of South Africa, the second in the list, by several points.
With the series victory, several India players cracked into strong records, but none like that of Rohit Sharma. After the final ODI against Australia, Sharma climbed up four places in ODI batsmen ranking reaching the zenith in the chart. Australia has always been the favorite team of the player. In the recent series he came up as the top scorer sweeping 296 runs in five matches. It is the first occasion for the player reaching the top of the ODI charts. He scored a century in the last ODI, pulling up his ranking points to 790. Rohit Sharma now follows Virat Kohli in terms of ranking points of India batsmen.
Other top gainers of the series are Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, Axar Patel, Yuzvender Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Rahane moved four spots in the ICC rank charts reaching 24th position. While, Jadhav reached 36th position moving up by eight spots. Axar Patel took a giant leap in the bowling charts. He became the seventh in the list leapfrogging from 10th position. Chahal and Yadav reached the 75th and 80th position respectively. Also, Warner and Aaron Finch had good feats in the series. Finch is now the 17th batsman in the list, while Warner is now second in the list of ODI batsmen.
