Rising Pune Supergiant started the season gloomy losing three of first four matches. However, in the next stretch, they won seven of eight matches, hauling themselves to the threshold of the top half. Jaydev Unadkat is a player crucial to turn the fate of the team. As an allrounder, he took both the responsibilities of bowling and batting when they were needed the most. Another impetus was from Ben Stokes, who delivered equally with the ball and the bat. Rahul Tripathi came up a strong batsman to counter the odds from Ajinkya Rahane, who did not shine in the tournament so far.
Delhi Daredevils are in a desperate need to win a match. In fact, they will need to win two matches to keep the campaign alive this season. It is tougher, but the last victory against Gujarat Lions cleared some grounds. Young players like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are on spotlight. However, for the next game, it might be a risk to play Pant owing to his thumb injury in the previous fixture. In the match with Gujarat, the player injured his thumb. He could make a way out for Ben Hilfenhaus. On the other side, Pune will look to unify the attacks from Adam Zampa and Unadkat, as Imran Tahir was back to national duty.
If Rahul Tripathi scores a half century, the next match could make him reach the milestone of 400 runs in his debut IPL. So far, only a single batsman has achieved the feat. In 2015 Shreyas Iyer scored 400 plus runs in his debut season. Zaheer Khan need a single wicket for his 100th scalp mark. The player could not strike down a single wicket in last five matches. Pune batsman Manoj Tiwary is satisfied with the team’s performance. He said players are at their peak performances in the need of the hour, which is a “very good sign.” He said, the situation is contrary to normal conditions where performance come down under pressure.
