Pant pulled up a couple of impressive records in his debut Test match against England.
Rishabh Pant is a left-handed batsman in team India. He is also the budding wicket keeper in the team. In domestic circuit, Pant plays as a Delhi batsman and in IPL, he plays for Delhi Daredevils. Pant did not break in international circuit as he based his career in domestic circuit. So far, he played 4 Test matches and 4 T20 Internationals. However, in both the formats his play is excellent. In Test, Pant averaged 36.28 in batting scoring a total 254 runs. In T20I, his overall score is 73. Pant has an impressive record in First-Class cricket, scoring 1555 runs in only 20 matches he played. The batsman has several record feats including the fastest half-century in U-19 cricket World Cup.
Pant was once thrown out of cricket academy as a young cricket trainee.
Rishabh Pant was born on October 1997 to Rajendra Pant and Saroj Pant. His father passed away in 2017 due to cardiac arrest. Pant has a sister as a sibling. The young cricketer was born at Roorkee of Uttarakhand and he completed schooling in Indian Public School of Dehradun. Pant graduated from Sri Venkateshwara College of New Delhi.
Pant has been creating records since his U-19 cricket days. In World Cup U-19 Bangladesh he scored 267 runs as the second highest run-getter from India. In the same 2016 season, he scored the fastest half-century of the tournament in 18 balls. At the same time, Pant knocked 308 runs against Maharashtra in a First-class tournament in 2016-17 of Ranji Trophy. With this, Pant created another milestone becoming the 3rd youngest Indian to knock a triple century in first-class cricket. It was also the fourth youngest in global records. He cracked another record of hitting the fastest century in Ranji Trophy. In the match against Jharkhand, Pant hit a ton in 48 balls.
Pant is getting ready as a replacement of MS Dhoni to be the next best wicket-keeper batsman in Team India.
Not only in First-class, Pant also nicked a couple of records in other domestic tournaments. In 2017-18 Zonal T20 League, he knocked the second-fastest century in domestic T20 between Himanchal Pradesh and Delhi, scoring 100 off 32 balls. Pant has a special place in IPL. He bagged Rupees 1.9 Cr. in 2016 IPL Auction to play alongside Delhi Daredevils. He played as the match winner in couple of matches. In the latest tournament of IPL 2018, Pant created history scoring an unbeaten 128 off 63 balls. This was the highest score by an Indian batsman in the shortest format. In the tournament, Pant was awarded ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ for this excellent play. He was the second-best scorer in the tournament.
Pant debuted T20 International in January 2017 against England. At the time, he was the youngest player to debut T20I at the age of 19 years 120 days. The young batsman debuted Test in the latest series against England. In an excellent stance, Pant came out as the second youngest wicket keeper to score a Test century in England. In the tournament, the young batsman hit the first scoring shot as a sixer on his debut match. Not only as a batsman, he marked his debut campaign as a strong wicketkeeper as well. He became the first Indian keeper to take 7 catches on a debut Test match.
