Richie Richardson appointed as match referee for World XI tour to Pakistan
Richie Richardson is one of the top Elite ICC match referees.


After years of endeavor Pakistan Cricket Board finally scheduled the T20 Independence Cup. The tournament will host three T20 matches between Pakistan and the World XI. Lately, it is announced that Richie Richardson is appointed as the match referee by the ICC for the tournament. He is one of the ICC's Elite Panel of match referees, who has officiated 11 Test, 19 ODIs and 18 T20Is since January 2016. The appointment of Richardson as the match referee was confirmed though an official press release published by PCB.

ICC has been working for re-development of cricket in Pakistan. It even has a special branch for overseeing the process. The recent World XI tournament is scheduled after an exclusive emphasis from Pakistan's cricket development wing of ICC. Officials of Federation of International Cricketer's Association (FICA) also visited the venues to supervise the state of security measures. The FICA officials are satisfied. The matches are scheduled on September 12, 13 and 15 at Gaddafi Stadium.

In 2009, the Sri Lanka team was attacked at the Gaddafi Stadium. Since the incident, it will be the first time an ICC match referee visiting the country. Since the attack, only Zimbabwe toured Pakistan in 2015. There was a period of complete void in Pakistan after the attack for several years. Lately, PCB emphasized on rejuvenation of cricket in the country. The Pakistan Super League was also conducted successfully in the country this year. The tournament hosted several top cricketers.

In another news, Pakistan cricketer Sharjeel Khan is banned for five roles from all format of the game. He is convicted for his role in spot-fixing in PSL. He is found guilty of five anti-corruption codes of the board. It is reported that the player is subjected to minimum punishment. The ban is subjected from February 10, 2017.
