The high scoring IPL match 2018 between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad ended as the former defending its score by a marginal 4 runs. While Super Kings had Ambati Rayadu striking a 37-ball-79, Sunrisers Hyderabad had Kane Williamson knocking 84 off 51 runs. Run rates in both the teams were high. Super Kings challenged Hyderabad scoring 182 in the first inning with a rate of 9.1. Hyderabad played brilliantly in the chase but remained a bit shorter as they surrendered with a score of 178.
Difference in the IPL inning was in the pattern of wickets. Super Kings played with more wickets in hand. Opponent bowlers could only nick three wickets in the home ground and in the chase, Kings defended the score taking down 6 Hyderabad wickets. Deepak Chahar took three wickets in an impressive economy of 3.75. In his four overs, Hyderabad players could only scratch 15 runs. The prime slog were the overs from Dwayne Bravo reaching an economy of 12 plus and those from Shardul Thakur and Karn Sharma reaching more than 11.
Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayadu forged a partnership of 112 runs. Raina remained not out as he plundered a half century. Rayadu knock grew brutal by the final balls he faced. In the last 16 balls he faced the batsman hammered six fours and three sixes to add 48 runs into the tally. Adding to the strike, MS Dhoni played a flashy knock of 12-ball-25 in the final stretch.
Kane Williamson steered the chase almost to the end. It was his wicket, the slogged the inning. In the powerplay overs they lost three wickets that incurred an early impasse. However, the captain compensated pairing with Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan. Al Hassan came up with a couple of brilliant boundaries, with Yusuf Pathan blitzed 4 sixes and a four to add 45 runs off 27 balls.
The latter’s wicket in the pre-ultimate overs was the turning point where the match went out from the team’s hand. Else, the highly unbalanced equation almost reduced to a victory. Rashid Khan played 4 balls knocking 2 sixes and a four scoring 17 runs.
