Ravindra Jadeja attains top Test Rank with Ashwin
Jadeja is now the ICC top test bowler along with Ashwin.

After his match winning spells in the recent test match with Australia, Ravindra Jadeja reached the Number 1 position in ICC Test bowlers ranking. Now, he is with Ravichandran Ashwin sharing the top spot. Both the players aggregated 892 points dominating the rest. The next player in the list is Josh Hazlewood with 863 points. Rangana Herath and Kagiso Rabada follows with 863 and 821 points respectively. It is the first time in test history that two bowlers from same team are placed in the top test ranking with equal points.

Ashwin and Jadeja are also emerging as all-rounders lately. Although, in the last two matches of the present series, the players could not do well with the bat, they were the prime attackers from India’s side who toppled the Aussie line-up singlehandedly in the innings. In the second test, Jadeja knocked down seven wickets, six of which came up in the first inning. This was his final haul that booked the place in the top position with Ashwin. It was the strikes from these bowlers that let India to retain its top position as ICC Test Team for the next season as well. The ICC test team rankings will be rolled out in April 1 and India is again set to be the top team.

Ashwin, on the other hand, had eight wickets in the match. It took the player to another milestone of being the fifth highest wicket-taker for India in test. So far, Ashwin claimed 269 wickets in test. With the record, Ashwin overhauled Bishan Bedi, a former test bowler who was in the fifth position. It was in April 2008, when two bowlers shared the top position together. It was Dale Steyn and Muttiah Muralitharan, both aggregating 897 points. A bummer is for Virat Kohli, who fell from the second position as the top test bowler. His stance in the previous two matches was feeble, aggregating only 40 runs playing four innings.
