The seven-member Special Committee is formed officially after the BCCI Special General Meeting. Rajeev Shukla is selected as the head of the committee. Shukla was the vice-president of BCCI. The committee is formed to tackle the roadblocks to implementation of Lodha Panel’s recommendation. The committee has members from the major cricket zones in the country as well as former captain Sourav Ganguly. The Supreme Court has asked a report from the committee before July 10. The apex court will deliver hearing on July 14. It has been a year since July 18, 2016, when the court ordered the implementation of Lodha’s suggestion.
The special committee comprise of Sourav Ganguly, former team India captain, Amitabh Choudhary, BBCI acting secretary, BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, T, C Mathew, Naba Bhattacharjee and Jay Shah. Jay Shah is the son of BJP President Amit Shah. The committee will submit a report before the July 14 hearing so that it will be taken into consideration by the court. The findings of the committee are of utmost importance because it might take BCCI stance to the previous mark of standoff against Lodha recommendations. First, the report will be submitted to the general body meeting of the Board. BCCI might come up with another meeting before the hearing to review the findings of the special committee. The meeting is most likely to be scheduled between July 10 and July 14.
In fact, the committee was to be formed much before. BCCI was on the way to form the body before a year. The board was unable to select a unanimous group of members for the time. After a year, finally, BCCI came up with the committee. The major disagreement was the chairman of the committee, who according to a group should have been the BCCI acting president, C.K. Khanna. Now, the head of the committee is selected as Rajeev Shukla. Another person who was pressed on for being on the Chairman’s post is Ranjib Biswal.
