MS Dhoni emerged as the star batsmen in the previous match in Pune. This would be definitely a turning point for Rising Pune Supergiant, if Dhoni gets back his form again as the best finisher of winning teams. For Supergiant, it was the third victory of the season, slowing making them rise across the point chart. The upcoming fixture against Mumbai Indians would be another opportunity for Dhoni to salvage his team. However, the player remained absent from practicing at the training session taking a break before the fixture.
The match against Mumbai could be tough. It is now one of the top teams in the point chart. Meanwhile, Pune is still struggling with players like Ben Stokes, who has still not accomplished any major feats in the tournament. In the last fixture Pune played on Wankhede stadium, the team won by nine wickets. In the previous match between the two teams. Mumbai lost it to Pune. It was the first victory at home for Pune and the only defeat of the season for Mumbai.
Pune has been fairly disciplined both on bowling as well as batting, but Mumbai always had one or other players who could outshine the team. Pune will play as a winner at the previous match it played and Mumbai will tussle as the team that has been winning consecutive matches. However, it was Pune who defeated them at the first match. Apart from batsmen like Smith and Dhoni, Pune is equipped with strong leg spin options. Imran Tahir, the top T20 bowler has been playing as a strong attack.
The pitch is expected to be wet with dew. The chasing team is supposed to have a better luck. Pune is trying to bring on Faf du Plessis again, while Mumbai has replaced Malinga for Mitchell Johnson. Pune Coach Stephen Fleming said that IPL is about confidence. He pointed out that Mumbai Indians are confident enough to be make the match difficult for Pune. But he also remined it is Pune who defeated them on the previous fixture. It is just another opportunity for the team, but it is tough, per Fleming.
