Baroda Cricket Association recently ousted Irfan Pathan from the team. The decision came up just before the match between Baroda and Tripura. The player was dropped in a sudden manner without much explanation. In a Tweet, Irfan Pathan said that, not wishing Good Morning and being an Yes Man to Boss may turn things against oneself. The selector's panel, headed by Leslie Fernandez said, they found Pathan's performance lacking, which led to his drop.
Irfan's early coach Mehendi Sheikh also complained that the selection committee of BCB is "mistreating" senior players. He argued that such an instance might break the morale of the team. As the Ranji season is currently ongoing, such treatments would bring a disruption in the team. Sheik's remarks have a valid reason as he highlighted that Irfan was made the captain of the team before the tournament and in the middle of the series, he is dropped suddenly. He asked why there are still players in the team who have not performed so far, if the selectors let go the captain based on performance.
As the player was released, Connor Williams, the former chairman of national Junior Selection Committee criticized BCA's selection system. He said, players in team Baroda must have a godfather if they want even a break. He accused that persons in the Cricket Improvement Committee have become like "Godfathers" and they are now running the board in the same way. Williams added, the senior players such be conveyed any major decision and the board should take them into confidence. Williams is Pathan's previous team mate. The senior player also warned that they will expose the malefic behavior of BCA members.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of selectors said that the decision to drop Pathan was not based on any personal grievance. However, even several officials of the association seemed puzzled on the decision.
