Mumbai Indians won IPL title for the third time. Sachin Tendulkar termed the match as “amazing, simply amazing.”


Mumbai Indians won its third IPL title winning the latest campaign against Rising Pune Supergiant. The team had a strong comeback campaigning against Pune winning the only match against the team in the entire tournament. Pune was the only team that defeated Mumbai thrice, both times on league stage and in the first qualifier match. Mumbai was the team who faced the least number of defeats. It was great defense showed up by Rohit’s men in the final match, saving the game for a single run. The captain said it was a “great effort” and he “couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

Rohit Sharma could not but praise the Pandya brothers. Krunal Pandya was the key player in Mumbai’s final campaign against Pune. It was his strike that let Mumbai to reach a decent score in the match. Rohit Sharma said the “Pandya brothers have something special in them.” He said they just want to contribute in one or the other way. The captain said the Pandyas are not only good at batting and bowling, they are excellent in fielding as well. Sharma said, “Krunal has become mature now.” Per the captain said that he is a core member of the squad.

Mitchell Johnson was the momentous player in the match. Defending 11 runs in the last over, he proved his best in the match. Defending the runs from the likes of Steven Smith was of course difficult, but Johnson was successful. He said the last couple of overs was “well set up.” He emphasized on Smith’s wicket and was successful at the final delivery. The bowler said he was not thinking too much and he wanted to be clear with his plan. His plan was to bowl full at the leg stumps, cause, he knew it was a weakness of Smith. Tendulkar termed the match as “amazing.” He said he believed in the motto of once a champion, always a champion.
