Even if talks between Cricket Australia and Australian Player’s Association are going on, the deadlock is intact. The MoU between Players and the cricket board will end after a matter of weeks and there is no clear solution until now. Under this uncertainly, Australian cricketers are aggressive to break into the new T20 franchisee in South Africa. There are optimal chances that Australian crickets will flood the tournament as well play exhibition or charity matches in the event. The country’s cricketers getting busy in CSA Cricket will mean skipping Australia’s premier tournaments and seasons. This will have a massive impact on Australian cricket.
As reported, the South Africa league has already attracted 400 plus players who registered on the online portal. Australian players have joined in massive numbers. However, there are no reports of the top ODI players and Test cricketers joining the CSA bandwagon. This would have impacted the prospects of upcoming Ashes series. The top players in the test team will require to produce NOC from Cricket Australia to participate in the tournament. There are also chance that it may not require at all if the MoU become invalid.
Even if the top cricketers do not join the CSA tournament, Australia will face trouble on domestic circuit. The tournaments like Matador Cup and Sheffield Shield will face the impact if top domestic players make an inroad out of the country. This will have a negative impact on domestic league matches. The tournaments on pipeline for Australia are Ashes, Australia A tour to South Africa and a two Test matches in Bangladesh, followed by a limited over series in India.
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia wants to curtail the pay structure of domestic players. This stance is being opposed by both International and female cricketers of the country. Australian cricketers might start playing matches which are hosted outside the ambit of Cricket Australia within the country. There is a large prospect for exhibition and charity matches in the country.
