The fever of NatWest T20 Blast started with players arriving at their respective teams. For season 2017, Dan Christian has signed with Notts Outlaws. The player had an average of 41 with a strike rate of 159.51 in the previous season. He was with the same team in the tournament that won nine matches in a row until the semi-final stages. The 33 years old player has joined the tournament as the first overseas cricketer. The league is scheduled to begin by July and will continue for a couple of months.
In 2016 season, Christian had several accolades in the previous tournament. He smashed three half centuries as a 16-ball cameo against Leicestershire Foxes. With the strike, he reached the record of fastest fifty in T20. He now stands with Alex Hales, his teammate batting for Outlaws' in the tournament with the same accolade. Dan Christian has been playing in Big Bash League as well as Indian Premier League as a top player. In IPL, he has played for two seasons as a player for Deccan Chargers. He is being associate with BBL since the first season in 2011.
Dan Christian is with several records in the short format of the game apart from hitting the fastest half century. He has played for 34 matches with the white ball in the domestic circuit of his country. His total appearances in T20 including that in BBL and IPL tallies 174. He has scored 2,549 runs in overall with a batting index of 154.5. Apart from holding significant batting figures, Christian is also strong with the ball. He had 130 wickets so far in the format. At Gabba, he once hammered one of the biggest sixes playing for Hurricanes. It was a 117-meter strike straight onto the roof of a stand.
Peter Moores, the head coach of Nottinghamshire lauded Christian as a brilliant team man. As a player, he is explosive and he has a great character as a person, according to Moores. The coach added that he gives everything and expects the same from his teammates. He said that the player is perfect for the format as he plays aggressively and in an attacking way.
