England-bound Indian Women’s cricket team has received their first jab of COVID-19 vaccination. Currently, the team is undergoing quarantine in a hotel in Mumbai, where the Men’s cricketers are also staying. Both the teams are set to tour England for a long series and both will travel in the same chartered flight on June 2.
According to a report in ANI, the entire squad including Men and Women, have been vaccinated and they will receive their second dose in England in the upcoming months by the UK Health Department.
“The entire contingent is now done with the first dose of vaccination. There were quite a few left to get the first dose and that was completed on Thursday. All the girls have been given Covishield as that will help them get the second dose in England,” the source told ANI.
The Indian Women’s team will clash with England in a one-off Test match, three ODIs and three T20Is. The tour will start with a four-day Test match, starting June 16 in Bristol. The tour will then progress to the ODI leg, which will start on June 27 in Bristol, second ODI in Taunton on June 30 and the final ODI in Worcester on July 3.
Post this, the women will play three T20Is in Northampton, Hove and Chelmsford on July 9, July 11 and July 15, respectively.
