The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting was scheduled to be decided on March 3 at the venue of the Asia Cup -2020 but the meeting was postponed due to the growing threat of corona virus and is now expected to be held in the last week of March. The meeting will once again discuss the Asia Cup in T20 format this year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official told IANS that the March 3 meeting has been postponed but the situation is still the same as PCB is concerned about it and only ACC can take a decision on it. The official said that as far as PCB is concerned, the situation has not changed. The ACC Board is the only institution that can decide on the venue of the Asia Cup -2020. We have heard that ACC will meet later this month, so we are waiting for their talk.
Sourav Ganguly (BCCI President ) said that the Asia Cup would be held in Dubai and both India and Pakistan would take part in it, but the PCB made it clear that the ACC would decide on the venue of the tournament. At the same time, a BCCI official has said that this meeting is to take place before the ICC meeting and it can also take place outside Dubai.
He said the meeting would probably take place in the third week of March, before the ICC meeting on 29 March. If the situation arises, we are ready to host a meeting in India. This time Pakistan has to host the Asia Cup but the BCCI has made it clear that they will not visit Pakistan for the tournament.
