The Indian team has been announced for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Injured Shikhar Dhawan is not part of the ODI squad and his place includes young opener batsman Prithvi Shaw. Dhawan was already out of the Indian T20 squad due to injury, but now he has been dropped from the team for the ODI series as he is not expected to be fit till then.
India has to play the first five matches T20 series against New Zealand. After Dhawan's exit, Sanju Samson has been included in his place in this team. Dhawan was injured while fielding during the Bangalore ODI. His left shoulder was hurt and he did not play in that match either. India has to play a three-match ODI series after the T20 series in New Zealand. After Dhawan got injured, the Indian selectors decided to give Samson a place in Dhawan's place in the T20 squad and Prithvi to be replaced in the ODI squad.
Prithvi Shaw is currently on a New Zealand tour with the Indian team. This is the first time he has been given a chance in the ODI team. He has played just two Test matches for India at the moment. Prithvi Shaw is the new face in the Indian ODI team.
The selectors have shown confidence in Shivam Dube as an all-rounder in the team, while Ravindra Jadeja is in the squad as a spin all-rounder. It was being said that Kedar might get a chance on the tour of New Zealand, as he has been included in the team. The responsibility of fast bowling in the team was led by Jasprit Bumrah, Shami, Navdeep Saini, Shivam Dube and Shardul Thakur while the spin department will be handled by Jadeja along with Kulcha i.e. Kuldeep and Chahal.
