The BCCI released the annual contract list of Indian players on Thursday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was discharged from the list which appeared from October 2019 to September 2020. After the exclusion of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni from this list, the news of his retirement once again has become hot. Mahi received an A grade contract last year. Mahi, who made her international debut against Bangladesh on 23 December 2004, played her last one-day World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Dhoni, who led India to the 2011 World Cup under his captaincy, has played 90 Tests, 350 One-Day and 98 T20 Internationals in his career.
The BCCI divides players into four grades. It consists of Grade A +, A, B and C. Whatever cricketers are placed in Grade A +, they get seven crore rupees annually from the board. Similarly, five crore annually in grade A, three crore in grade B and one crore in grade C is given annually to that cricketer.
In Central contract the board contracts with a cricketer for a year. The player who is included in the contract list is also placed in board plans such as team selection and selecting players for a tour. The board also looks at how long a player is playing in the team.
The contract includes only three names in A +, 11 players in A category, five names in grade B and eight players in grade C.
Grade A (Seven crore):
Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who were included in the A category after being excluded from the A + in the previous contract, are also retained in this list. Apart from both, there are nine players and this contract. Dhoni also used to fall in this category.
Grade A (Five Crores): Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant are also in this list. (October 2019 to September 2020)
If we talk about B category, then this time five players have got a place in this category.
Grade B (three crore): Ridhiman Saha, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal Hardik Pandya and Mayank Agarwal. (October 2019 to September 2020)
Eight players in Grade C (one crore): Kedar Jadhav Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey, Hanuma Vihari, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar (October 2019 to September 2020)
