Millions of Jio TV subscribers will not be able to enjoy free live streaming of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) starting on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Reportedly, the contract between the tournament's streaming partner Hotstar and Jio TV for IPL 2020 has not been renewed. According to the recent report, 'In March this year, Hotstar was negotiated for streaming live IPL matches on Jio TV, but the two parties could not reach an agreement. It is believed that the agreement between the two is now over.
Quoting Gopa Kumar of Isobar India, he said, 'Because there is no agreement with Jio this year. Viewership will be reduced for Hotstar. Whereas during Covid-19, the number of its subscribers will have increased significantly and many people will be associated with this platform. A large number of people have been enjoying the live streaming of IPL on Jio TV through Hotstar. Hotstar gives free streaming to its non-subscribers for only 5 minutes, but this was not the case with Jio subscribers. They enjoy the entire match.
Let us tell you that today is 14 August 2020, the last day to join the race to win the title sponsorship rights of IPL. According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), 'Any party or company that wishes to participate in this bid can inform the board by 5 pm on 14 August. The tournament's new title sponsor will be announced by August 18. Whichever company gets the rights to the title sponsorship of the IPL, its deadline will be till December 31, 2020.
