ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020: Bangladesh beat hosts South Africa entered the semi-finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup on Thursday.
Bangladesh scored 261 for five with the help of half-centuries from Tanjid Hasan (80), Shahadat Hossain (74) and Towhid Hridoy (51) after being invited to bat first. South African bowling failed to deliver impressively. Two Bangladesh batsmen were run out. Off-spinner Pheko Moletsane took two for 41, while Tiaan van Vuuren took one wicket for 46 runs.
The South African batsmen also performed disappointingly. Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan took five wickets for 19 runs, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib took two wickets, leaving Bangladesh out for 157 runs in 42.3 overs. Middle-order batsman Luke Beaufort scored the highest score of 60 for South Africa, while Jonathan Bird contributed 35 runs.
Bangladesh Under 19 team will take on New Zealand in the second semi-final of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2020 on 6 February. At the same time, the Indian team has also reached the semi-finals by defeating Australia. However, it will not be decided which team will face the Indian team. The fourth Super League quarter-final of the Under-19 World Cup is going to be held on Friday 31 January between the Under 19 team of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The team that will win in this match will have to meet the Indian strong team in the semi-finals. This match will be played on 4 February.
