For spinner Nathan Lyon, the current test is a critical point of his position further in the team. He has been inconsistent in the Aussie Team but with his fitness, the player came back stronger each time. In the previous test matches with India, Lyon has bowled to be among the most decisive players of the team. The previous test matches had bowlers at dominant positions. Particularly spinners had the control over the pitches turning the innings as low scoring.
Nathan Lyon, thus, became the imperative bet for Australia. However, the condition of his red fingers after bowling the new and hard SG Balls could bring further trouble into his stance in the team. He knocked eight wickets in the last test bringing a lot of discomfort to team India.
With such a condition of split callus, now the selectors should rethink his inclusion in the next test. But Lyon is highly confident on his fitness. He said such condition happens twice a year for him usually. The last time it happened was in the third test in a series. He was included in the team after three days. He remined of the last stance and is confident to play with equal effort in the upcoming test as well. However, he leaves the fate on to selectors.
The bowler further said that it is just a split and is minor, but it hurts a lot. Nathan Lyon is looking forward to play at Ranchi even if he has a hurtful finger. This could be of a potential danger to the team. Australia might strongly consider an option as his replacement as a spare player, even if Lyon might be inducted into the squad.
Lyon is confident on his team’s stature in the series. Per the bowler, the pressure is on India and Australia has no pressure at all. He remined, despite of everyone saying the team is going to lose by 4-0, the series is levelled at 1-1 after two games. Per the bowler, Australia is just one win away from the trophy and there is “lot to belief.”
