Teams are gearing up for Champions Trophy, which is to start from first week of June. Among others, Australia has also made some basic changes within the ODI team to customize it especially for the tournament. With a view to bolster its bowling arsenal, Mitchell Starc is recalled to the squad. The bowler was injured and was rested for the time being. Starc is now in the 15-man squad of Australia for the tournament. Starc was injured in the second test against India early in the year, after which he was sent back from the tour. The player is fit again and is expected to join the team for the trophy.
Another player on the squad who is inducted new into the team is Chris Lynn. An IPL franchise brought the player, but he could not play a game so far due to injury. Lynn was injured his shoulders and is recovering for the next tournament. Lynn is also named in the 15-men squad of Australia. The bowlers attack would be completed with the including of Pat Cummins and James Pattinson, who would oversee the pace department. On the other hand, Starc and Josh Hazlewood along with John Hastings has made the arsenal formidable.
The middle order and the lower middle line up is still to match. The allrounder position is open for now with probabilities of Glenn Maxwell, Moises Henriques and Marcus Stoinis on the spotlight. The team rested James Faulkner, who has been with the team since the World Cup 2015. Other players, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Aaron Finch and George Bailey are expected to spearhead the batting side. Per Australia Chief selector Trevor Hans, they are in a position to select from many quality players and it is “very fortunate.” He said players back from injury like Starc and Lyon are being monitored closely on their recovery.
