In the last four consecutive matches between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab, it was the former who were always at the top. They played eight fixtures until now of which, Kings XI won two. In IPL-9, last season, Hyderabad won both the matches against Punjab. Glenn Maxwell, Punjab skipper pointed out the lack of uncapped players as the reason of their previous loss to Delhi Daredevils. He said, everything has a weakness accepting their soft spots in the match. Maxwell clearly wanted senior players to play better including David Miller and Eoin Morgan. Sunrisers are apt in changing their team per requirement. Even Mustafizur Rahman was dropped in the last match they played. However, the player has good record against Punjab, which could bring him back to the top XI.
Hyderabad might play Rashid Khan, the spinner, as a change of strategy to tackle players like Maxwell or Miller. It would be first time Khan will be bowling to them. Warner is the most crucial bet for Hyderabad against Kings XI. The batsman has scored substantial runs back to back in last matches. The least score is 52 and highest is 81. Another player bowler, Sandeep Sharma is on spotlight to tackle the top batsmen of the team. The Hyderabad pitch has been favorable for chasers. Of 10 matches, the chasing team has won eight.
This season, spinners has been crucial for any team especially in Hyderabad pitch. While pacers are emerging as expensive with an economy of 9.85, spinners achieved an economy of 5.84 on the pitch. The fact is also backed by Ashish Nehra’s overs to Hashim Amla. The deliveries from Nehra has been a target for Amla. Hyderabad will choose between Ben Cutting or Mustafizur Rahman, while for Punjab, Sandeep Sharma, Mohit Sharma, and Varun Aaron are still the favorites.
