After a consistent knock as a top order batsman, Lokesh Rahul established himself in 11th position in the list of top ICC test batsmen. He has hauled Ajinkya Rahane and Murali Vijay who are at 14th and 34th down the list. In the recent Dharamshala test, the player knocked two half centuries, that made him to jump 11 places. Before the series, the batsman was at 57th position. In the four test matches his scores were 64, 10, 90, 51, 67, 60 and an unbeaten 51. He gained 46 places by the end of the series. In team India, Rahul is now ranked as the third top batsman after Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Rajindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin claimed the two top ranks. Umesh Yadav reached 21th position climbing up five places, which is his career best so far. His excellent knocks in the fourth test claimed him the spot. In the match, he knocked two wickets for 69 runs in the first inning. In the second, he removed three wickets for 29 runs. Jadeja have replaced Ashwin in the second position on the all-rounder’s list. On top is Shakib-Al-Hasan, the Bangladesh player. Jadeja’s knock of 63 runs in Dharamshala was the scoring point for the player. This also got him the Player of the series award.
Steve Smith, against all odds of the series remained on top of the ICC batsmen list. In the series, the Aussie skipper hammered 499 runs batting eight innings. He is ahead of Kane Williamson by 61 points, who came up to become the second top batsman after the knock of 176 in Hamilton. Smith emerged as the highest scorer in the recent series with India. Smith hammered four centuries in the series, including the unbeaten knock of 178 at Ranchi.
