Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are getting ready for their next IPL 2018 faceoff in the former’s home ground. Both of the teams are with impressive track record in previous matches of the season. If Royals thumped up a score as high as 217 to successfully defend it, Knight Riders is among the highest boundary strikers of the tournament so far. In the Bengaluru match against Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals racked up 217 runs to win. While, Knight Riders boundary percentage of 67.67 is third this season following Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
Rajasthan Royals, before 2013, had an impressive winning record at Jaipur. They have an advantage over the pitch and spinners like K Gowtham and Shreyas Iyer can makes things more complicated for Knight Riders. However, even if both the teams are now locked at equal IPL Points, the Riders ahead on net run rate. Players like Sanju Samson and Andre Russell are on limelight with a strong strike.
Apart from contrasting features, both the teams have similarities. Both Royals and Riders have players who did not delivered to the fullest season. On one side there is player like Ben Stokes, who is yet to show up his form and on other side, there is Chris Lynn, still half-backed with his scores. On bowling front, players like Shreyas Gopal and Sunil Narine are expected to deliver strongly.
The IPL teams will play with no great changes in the lineup. If Jofra Archer recovers from the side strain injury, he would be inducted into Royals ensemble. Kolkata has no reason to changes its squad as they would like to keep the winning combination that blazed against Delhi daredevils in the previous match. Dinesh Karthik on his maiden captainship in IPL has a good opportunity to grab records in this season. He won the last campaign against Gambhir, the team’s previous captain. If he proves the same against Rahane, it would be another stepping stone for the striker.
