Kohli rested from ODI series, Iyer and Kaul to debut against Sri Lanka
Shreyas Iyer is a top-rated domestic batsman, while Siddarth Kaul has an impressive performance alongside the A team.

India Selector Panel rolled out the list of players for the last Test against Sri Lanka in Delhi and the following ODI series. The list for the T20I Series will be put on by the time first Test starts on second December. It was expected that India skipper would be rested from the final Test, but the player was rested from the ODI series. The selectors however have left a possibility of including the captain in the following T20 series. The series will start on December 20. In absence of Kohli, the ODI team against Sri Lanka will be headed by vice-captain Rohit Sharma. The opener took the vice-captaincy helm from Ajinkya Rahane when India toured Sri Lanka months back. Sharma has a remarkable stance as a captain, winning the three IPL tiles for his team Mumbai Indians.

India selectors introduced two new debutants in the ODI XI. Shreyas Iyer will play his maiden ODI along with Siddarth Kaul. The former is a batsman, while the latter is a bowler. Iyer will play in pace of Kohli in the team. The young player is among the top-rated player in domestic circuit. He debuted in T20 against New Zealand recently. Meanwhile, Kaul is in place of Shardul Thakur. The latter was named in the squad for New Zealand, but did not have a game. Kaul’s performance alongside the India A team is striking. He is also a top attacker in Ranji tournament. Kaul outplayed South Africa and New Zealand A teams in recent matches.

In the recent selection for ODI, the bowling squad comprise of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya. While the batting line-up is with Rohit Sharma, Shekhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Iyer, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni. Hardik Pandya is as the all-rounder option. While, the Test team for the Delhi match is not with much changes.
