Lokesh Rahul, team India opener, was injured on his shoulder at the series against England prior to Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As reported, the batsman will be travelling to London to undergo shoulder surgery. This would make the player miss the upcoming IPL 2017 season, in which, the player was set to bat for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
This would be a setback for the team as Rahul is being through a strong form so far, in this career. The player also hinted about his shoulder while playing the series. It was barring him from playing massive shots. However, as an opener, Lokesh Rahul has topped in the score chart striking back to back half centuries in the test series.
The batsman was injured on his left-forearm while playing against England in the Vishakhapatnam test. His condition worsened while practicing on nets for the nest match at Mohali. The player continued to play in the campaign against Australia and scored substantially. After the final fixture at Dharamshala against Australia he was at the 11th position in the latest ICC ranking for batsmen. Before the series, he was in 57th position.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had another setback as Virat Kohli would miss the early matches. Kohli is also injured at his shoulder and is most likely to join the tournament only at the Knockout stage. The captain was also rested for the final fixture at Dharamshala against Australia. Kohli is also the captain of RCB. In his absence, AB de Villiers is supposed to take the helm of the team.
