Kemar Roach bowled with a knee injury, but it could stop him from taking 5 wickets in 5 overs.

The first day of first Test between West Indies and Bangladesh, brought up the worst figures for the latter in the format. Bangladesh started the match batting in the first innings, but it wobbled completely at the score of 43, which is the lowest total of the team in Test Cricket. The innings lasted only for 18.4 overs, where West Indies bowlers attacked Bangladesh players with impressive bowling.

Kemar Roach had a five wickets haul, aided by Miguel Cummins and Jason Holder. Cummins had 3 wickets, while Holder slumped 2. In the innings, only Liton Das scored 25 runs, reaching a double-digit figure, while, rest of the team scrambled in single digit scores. Four of the players ducked out at zero.

West Indies took on the pitch before the lunch break. The opening partnership between Kraig Braithwaite and Devon Smith was for 40.4 overs, where the players scored 113 runs. Abu Jayed took down Smith after the player knocked a half century. The next wicket of Keiron Powell toppled after Bangladesh bowled 64 overs. The batsman added 48 runs playing 65 balls in the innings. The day ended with Bangladesh bowling a total of 68 overs. Braithwaite remained unbeaten with the score of 88 playing 204 balls. He knocked 8 fours in the innings.

In the day, Indies bowler Kemar Roach had a strong grip over the wickets. He, with Shannon Gabriel put up the pressure bar high for Bangladesh batsmen since the first over in the day. Roach bowled with a knee injury, but it could not stop him from taking down half the team. In five overs, the bowler gave out only 8 runs, while wreaking the havoc. The next innings had a brilliant batting off Braithwaite and Smith, who player with strong patience.

There were several occasions in the innings when Bangladesh players misfired. Braithwaite was dropped when his score was 78. However, players like Liton Das had a firm play taking down an impressive catch to remove Powell. The day ended with Davendra Bishoo and Braithwaite playing as the night watchmen.
