The first T20 between UAE and Afghanistan brought out several contrasting figures. Both batsmen and bowlers had strong stances in the match playing out their bests. Debutant Karim Janat emerged as a focus among the players delivering good strikes as a batsman as well as a bowler in the innings.
Especially, Afghanistan players proved their strong stance as all-rounder players in the match. Afghanistan's seventh batsman down the line, Najibullah Zadran delivered a striking inning batting for only 10 balls to become the second highest scorer in the match with 31 runs. Janat, on the other hand, removed three wickets defending their score. From UAE's side, Mohammed Shahzad, who bats at No. 3 took three wickets for his team.
Even if defeated, UAE had the top scorer in its team. Rameez Shahzad scored 49 batting till the final over in the chase. He struck 2 sixes and 4 fours. The next top scorer with 38 runs was Mohammed Shahzad, the Afghanistan batsman. The best strike rate was from Rashid Khan the opener from Afghanistan who took 14 off 4 balls. His score, however, was of little substance compared to that of Zadran. The player attained the second highest strike rate of 310 with his 10 ball 31.
Karim Janat of Afghanistan and Mohammed Shahzad of UAE had three wickets each into their tally. Janat had a slightly better economy giving out 31 runs in contrast to Shahzad's 34 in the match. Mohammed Naveed had the best economy giving out 16 runs in 4 overs while taking down an Afghanistan wicket. Amzad Javed of UAE had a week economy of 11 in the match. The batsmen milked out 44 runs in the four overs he bowled. Aftab Alam from Afghanistan also gave out 33 runs in 3 overs. The worst was from Rohan Mustafa, who gave out 37 runs in 3 overs.
Afghanistan achieved a run rate of 8.05 while UAE scored at the rate of 7.5 in the match. The figures prove the winner, who sealed the match by 11 runs, defending their score of 161. The next T20 match will be played in December 16, followed by the third in December 18.
