The second Test at Colombo has brought good tidings for Jadeja apart from ICC woes due to his aggressive violation of codes. The player is suspended from the third Test at Pallekele, but he is now top of the ICC allrounder list in Test. The Indian bowler has replaced Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh cricketer, to seal the top. Apart from reaching the spot as an allrounder, Jadeja has also become the top Test bowler in the format. The changes in the position is according to the latest release from ICC on player’s ranking. It was rolled out on August 8, Tuesday.
Ravindra Jadeja had an allrounder performance in the recently concluded Test against Sri Lanka. India won the match with a massive margin. It was a victory by an inning and 53 runs. India batted only a single inning in the match, hauling the score to almost reach the margin of 600. Jadeja batting down the lower order smashed 70 remaining not out until India declared an inning break. Bowling to Sri Lanka, Jadeja picked up two wickets in their first inning. He slogged the second inning with a five-wicket haul. In two innings, the bowler claimed 7 wickets.
Other players who moved up in the charts are Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Pujara is now the Number 3 batsman in Test, hammering a ton in the second fixture. On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane reached number 6. He leapfrogged five spots with the century knock.
A couple of Sri Lanka cricketers has also scaled good positions. Kusal Mendis hauled 10 spots reaching the 19th position, with the knock of 110 in the series. Dimuth Karunaratne moved 13 spots ahead and is now ranked 24. He scored 141 in an inning against India recently. England’s Moeen Ali climb up the charts becoming the fourth in the allrounder’s ranking. James Anderson overtook R Ashwin to become the Second top bowler in Test.
