The upcoming match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals is all set to become an exciting tussle as teams are now facing off for the race to IPL playoffs. Of four slots, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers are already set on two, while the remaining slots are still open for the rest of the five teams, barring Delhi Daredevils, which is eliminated from the race. Both Riders and Royals are equal in terms of winning the chances to the next level. Both have won a total of six matches of 12 tussles. They are separated only by 2 points.
Against this backdrop, coach Jacques Kallis is targeting the playoffs appealing “play two good games”, saying “destiny” is on the team’s hand. In their last three campaigns, Riders faced three consecutive losses, while the Royals are on a winning spree of back-to-back victories. While Riders lost to Punjab and Mumbai, the Royals won against Mumbai, Punjab and Chennai. In the previous face-off at Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals flared up only with Jos Buttler, while Kolkata chased down with a strong batting.
Eden Gardens is supposed to be a favoring ground for spinners. So far, spinners had an impressive record of 36 wickets at the economy of 8 in the tournament so far. Meanwhile, the home team roped in Javon Searles as the new quick option. Although the early match he played, his bowling was rather not economical, he has a good prospect to play as an all-rounder.
For Royals, Jos Buttler is still the prime striker and the batsman is definitely on spotlight for Riders. The latter has Sunil Narine as the specialist attacker against Buttler. Not only Buttler, the bowler can be also a strong bet against Ajinkya Rahane. His records are impressive against both the players. On the other side, Royals still remain mostly dependent on K Gowtham, who has been the most successful in the team so far.
