India won the third ODI of the series against Australia in Indore. This sealed the series for India winning 3 matches of the five match ODI tournament. Apart from the series victory, India had reached another feat. The match marked the 9th consecutive victory for India in the format, which is the longest-joint stretch of the team. It is the next time in the team's history the record is reached. It is a repetition of the same feat back in November 2008 to February 2009. Another, record is against Australia.
It is the first time India has defeated Australia in all three back to back ODIs in a series. It is a bilateral record between the teams. Previously, between 1996 and 1998, India won four consecutive ODIs against Australia. Meanwhile, Australia's record in the format has reach a record low. The match at Indore was the 11th consecutive defeat of the team.
It is not the first instance when Hardik Pandya played as the match winner. However, it is the first time, the player has established himself as a batsman who can play winning games lower as well as at the upper middle order.
