In the Women T20 Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, the former won over the latter by 5 wickets in Bangkok. It was the 7th match of the tournament. The Women team from Pakistan was sent to bat first by India captain Harmanpreet Kaur after winning the toss. In the inning, India successfully restricted the team into a bellow hundred score. The team would scratch out 97 runs with Nain Abidi knocking the top score of 37. Ekta Bisht had three wickets while Anuja Patel and Kaur had two each. India chased down the score in 19.2 overs to nick the victory. In the tournament, India Women team has won three consecutive matches to lead on the points table. For Pakistan, it is the first defeat of the season.
Pakistan started the inning with a strong strike from the openers. Ayesha Zafar played more than half the inning, partnering with Javeria Khan, Bismah Maroof and Nain Abidi. The opener player scored 28 off 36 runs until she was removed by Patil. The first wicket, however, fell in the fourth over when Khan was dismissed at 7. Skipper Maroof was put down after a couple of overs with her team scoring 35 in overall. The only substantial stretch in the inning was from Abidi and Zafar while Iram Javed added her 10 runs. India's bowlers did not take much time to put down the lower order. Abidi remained unbeaten in the inning scoring 37 off 41.
India chased down Pakistan's score in a brisk strike. The openers put forward an excellent stretch of 27 runs. Smriti Mandhana was removed in the eight over, but there was little change in the momentum. Mithali Raj, who has taken a strong stance on her play lately, delivered another striking inning. She steered the chase with a healthy consistency in the strike rates. She played 16 overs scoring 36 runs. It was the partnership of the player with Kaur that took India to 70 for 3 in the 15th over. Mandhana was removed by Sana Mir. Kaur, on the other hand, took the inning into the victory mark scoring an unbeaten 26 off 22.
Pakistan's attack was spearheaded by Sana Mir and Nida Dar, who put a cap on the flow of runs. However, Harmampreet Kaur stood upright against the attack finding the way to 94 for 5 in the pre-ultimate over. The captain took the final runs partnering with Patil sparing 4 balls. India gained 2 points to be on the top of the chart with the victory.
