The Under 19 India Team won the ODI series against England U19. Sealing the game with a massive whitewash India slogged England by 5-0. In the final fixture India chased down England’s 223 securing a single wicket win and sparing four balls. The best plays in the squad were from Rahul Chahar and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Chahar knocked down four wickets while Nagarkoti scored a crucial 26 to put the game on India’s side. England’s inning had a strong beginning with a good strike from the top order.
However, India bowlers were successful to slog the middle order batting line up. Chahar took four wickets for 63 runs. The next attacker was Abhishek Sharma who knocked down 3 wickets for 33 runs. The home Under-19 team scored 222 runs as their total tally for 9 wickets. It was Chahar’s leg spin deliveries and Sharma who set off the collapse of the line-up at Taunton.
In the chase, India started with a wobbly order. There were wickets throughout the inning, with equal contributions throughout the line-up. India scored 226 to win the match with nine wickets. There was a hefty contribution from Prithvi Shaw in the chase. The opener knocked 52 runs off 45 balls. The next crucial score was the 44 from Harvik Desai. The rest of the squad scored less than 30 runs, but the ending knock for Nagarkoti saved the chase.
The chase struck a resistance from Liam Trevaskis and Henry Brookes in the moment when the run rate was going on fine. The team was at 194 for 6 in 41 overs and in less than four overs, it was reduced to 217 for 9. Their enough balls left to nick a win, but the batting line up was on the verge of extinction. It was Nagarkoti smashing a boundary, who nicked the victory before the end of the final over. In England’s inning has the partnership between skipper Harry Brook and Liam Banks that brought 87 runs to bolster the score.
