It is the series decider match between India and England, but the teams seem to be quite pressure less. This match is quite important for both the teams keeping in view the upcoming World Cup in 2019. It is not such that winners take it all, but the three match ODI series is important from the viewpoint of the teams involved. Both England and India are strong contenders for the ODI World Cup, including Australia.
For the teams, this series is no less than a pre-world cup tournament, as the big game is not even a year far away. More specifically, for England, it is a self-evaluation against India. While for India, it is an evaluation of the England pitches, as well as the teams compatibility with it.
Sanjay Bangar, India coach said team India is now in a “ideal situation” to test the players on bench. He said there are only about 16 or 17 matches before the World Cup in the format and each match is an opportunity to test reserved players. In this match, both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are absent. Thus, the rest of attack will be put to Test in the match.
Previously, England pacer Mark Wood pointed out that the series win will have a direct impact on the upcoming World Cup match. He said, the matches will keep the pressure on and the match will make the team learn what team England is doing wrong or right. However, neither of the team seem be in pressure. For India, the top order is strong with Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli. The issue in the team is through the middle order. Against England, India is facing this problem since 2015. The upcoming match is another chance for India to work on the glitches.
In the final ODI, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is unsure play. The bowler will undergo another fitness test. England player Jason Roy is replaced with James Vince. Although, he was to undergo a fitness test before playing, his condition makes a replacement quite a necessity. Vince already participated in a long net session before the tournament.
