India meets Bangladesh in second semifinal of Champions Trophy. The winner tussles Pakistan in final and the other leave the venue. Bangladesh has better records than all the top eight teams in the ODI than India since last two years. Both India and Bangladesh has won 11 matches, but India has lost two more matches than Bangladesh. This creates a balanced equation for both the sides in the format.
However, Bangladesh’s history of cricket against India is dismaying. India beat the team in 2016 World T20. A year before, it faced another defeat in 50 over World Cup against India. Somehow, it is always Bangladesh that faces India in big games since last three years.
India must be careful maintaining discipline among its bowlers. The team has already got a taste of decision blunders this season. This time, the team cannot afford any mistakes and weak instances, especially against Bangladesh, that slogged stronger teams. Virat Kohli brought R Ashwin into the team again, the prime bet against South Africa. He has more to do with the top and middle order batting as bowling has been prime attack for Bangladesh against India so far. Only a sturdy middle order will ensure a strong inning for India, without which, the heat will be on bowler’s shoulders. However, a hope for India is the form of Bangladesh bowlers, that has been leaking massive runs.
The match is not expecting any rain and the pitch is fresh. This puts no pressure to bat or bowl first on either team. Only batting strategy and bowling attacks will determine the roadmap to final. Virat Kohli, India skipper realized the state of caution they should take against Bangladesh. He knows the team has improved over games and the players are taking more responsibilities. Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza keeps the doorway open for any possibilities.
